Server and Network Maintenance

I have a few clients, who I perform Server (Usually linux) maintenance, along with fixing up any strange windows desktop issues.

Custom Application Design and Development.

I'm continually looking at the best cost effective way to deliver custom solutions to my clients, as an author of quite a few core libraries for PEAR. These enable me to design applications that are not only fast to develop and test, but withstand the long term issues of maintenance and later feature additions

Case Study: Project, Staff and Timesheet Management

[image-todo] As part of an ongoing contract, I developed a full timesheet management application for a Architectural company (with integrated project, and staff management). This was a pure Web solution, enabling a staff of over 100 in 5 offices all over China, to enter weekly timesheets, and the accounting staff to quickly analyize the profitability of any project.

Case Study: Web based Fax Server

[image-todo] Too many spam faxes, and documents getting lost where the driving forces behind a web based fax reciever/distribution system developed for an Architectural company.  A Linux server attached to the main fax line, some modified hylafax files, and a Web front end, enabled the company to distribute faxes by PDF to the Architects secretaries. Reducing the need to print out any fax. Allowing authorized staff direct access to review and print all faxes, any time of the day or night, from any desk in the 5 offices all over China.

Case Study: Club Membership Management and Billing System

[image-todo] Migrating from a aging custom built DOS/Novell application into an open source Member Managment and billing system was the driver for this project. From extracting the data, working through the interface design, to development, deployment and feature improvements. An very successfull ongoing project, this delivered on all the requirements, including integration with a POS system, creating PDF bills, emailing bills to members, Bank Autopay integration, POS web browser and contactless card integration.

Case Study: Shipping, Invoicing and Product Database Management

[image-todo] A fast growing trading company keeping track of it's shipped items in a huge excel file, was becomming to much to bear. The application and process was the first to utilize fully Mozilla's XUL interface development toolkit, providing a extremely friendly and response interface to access information. Along with this, using the outsourcing advantages of the internet, I worked closely with the client to develop a brief, and outsourced the initial development phase, making a complex well written application available at the fraction of the cost. By setting down the applicaiton design and closely monitoring the development during outsourcing, the phase II changes and additions could be done rapidly locally, in close discussion with the client.
