Canvas graphing
Not SVG, but may be of some interest - RGraph does client side graphing using the new HTML5 canvas tag - http://www.phpguru.org/RGraph

Plotr -> Flotr -> Protochart
Due to some bugs we found in Flotr, we ended up using ProtoChart instead:

Unfortunately it wasn't without bugs either, but did the job we needed it for after some small fixes. :)

browser compatibility does anyone care???
RGraph will be fine in about 5 years from now, but it's no good for today... except maybe for corporate internal use with they can dictate what all browsers shall be.

What really got my attention was when I tried the above PlotR demo on ie6 win2k -- there are still a lot of those...
and PlotR worked great on that, at least for the one test initial look. The result looks essentially identical to firefox 3.x on Linux.

I also tried the ProtoChart demo with similar results (works on ie6).

I am going to give this a closer look, thanks for the tip!

But your comments about Prototype and MochiKit fully vindicate my general attitude about such things. It's exactly why I avoid that stuff like the plague and prefer to write my own code.
